Dry Room for Battery Production

The Mangini Group, through its Industrial Cleanroom division, is one of the leading manufacturers of high-performance cleanrooms and dry rooms for the production of lithium-ion batteries and advanced energy cells. These Gigafactories must be designed to ensure absolute control over temperature, humidity, and particulate contamination, meeting the strictest dew point requirements and ISO standards demanded by the most sensitive production processes.

Thanks to its extensive experience in the EV battery sector, Mangini is now an international reference for the construction of modular dry rooms for next-generation Gigafactories, where precision, efficiency, and operational continuity are essential.

Key Factors Influencing Automotive Dry Room Design

The international experience gained by Mangini Industrial Cleanroom in the design and construction of dry rooms for battery production (EV Batteries) allows us to expertly identify the key elements that contribute to the success of a project, whether for Gigafactories or smaller dry rooms:

  • Dew point & ISO levels
  • Design for resilience and flexibility
  • Oversizing and post-design challenges
  • Active vs. passive fire resistance measures
  • Potential production downtime issues
  • Selection of dehumidification unit (DHU) – number of rotors
  • Microclimates
  • Airflow design and energy consumption

Thanks to deep expertise in cleanroom design principles and the application of cutting-edge technologies, Mangini delivers solutions that ensure the perfect balance between initial investment (CAPEX) and operating costs (OPEX), while reducing construction timelines and simplifying the management of the production environment.

The Mangini Modular Cleanroom as “The Solution”

Mangini Dry Rooms are based on KYBOS® technology, a patented modular system of removable walls and ceilings that implements an innovative IMP approach. The standard industrial approach typically uses progressive male/female panels, generally around 6 meters high, without internal structure and without any provisions for doors, windows, or utility openings. In contrast, Mangini modular cleanrooms and dry rooms feature removable walls available in both non-progressive and progressive versions with multiple joint types, steel/aluminum frames of variable thickness, customizable internal insulating panels made from high-density materials such as rock wool, honeycomb aluminum, or expanded polyurethane, and a wide range of finishes — from HPL and UPVC to painted stainless steel — with technical openings pre-fabricated off-site.

The KYBOS+ version, specifically developed for walls over 10 meters high, integrates a robust steel structure. This solution enables the construction of self-supporting dry rooms up to 18 meters high, free of pillars, designed to ensure safety, airtightness, and ease of maintenance, even in complex production environments such as lithium battery assembly lines.

Mangini’s seismic-certified modular dry rooms are tested and certified according to the international AC156 protocol, fully compliant with NTC2018 for Italy. In addition, they meet the FM Approved standard for fire-resistant cleanrooms, addressing the growing demand for high safety standards internationally.

Turnkey Projects for Battery Production Dry Rooms: Our Integrated Approach

Each Mangini turnkey cleanroom is developed within a fully integrated industrial process, entirely managed in-house, ensuring continuous control at every stage of the project.
Design and engineering are carried out by our technical teams using 3D BIM models, enabling us to anticipate potential issues and optimize plant layout.
Prefabricated modules are produced off-site across Mangini Group’s four Italian manufacturing facilities, ensuring consistent quality and reduced lead times.
The entire installation phase is coordinated by a single technical point of contact, providing clear and efficient project management.
From start-up to maintenance and post-installation services (Day 2), every activity remains under Mangini’s direct responsibility.
Thanks to this integrated organization, projects are completed faster, with optimized costs and high performance, without ever compromising safety or quality.
